What is Rose Pageant? Since 2000, VSAUCI has annually held the Rose Pageant during the Fall quarter. Ladies from Vietnamese Student Associations all over Southern California come together to celebrate all aspects of the Asian-American woman through dance, evening gown, questionnaires, and the Ao Dai segments. A fraction of the proceeds made from the event goes to a charity of our choice that gives back to the Vietnamese community. Rose Pageant also holds performances from talents within the UCI campus and local community including Gio Nam Mua Lan (Southern Wind Lion Dance), Level V Origins (Modern Dance), TRANCE (Traditional Dance), and VocaLotus (VSAUCI Choir).
This year's proceeds will be donated to two of SAP-VN's philanthropy projects, The Congenital Heart Defect Project, for children with congenital heart diseases aging from 4 months to 16 years old, and the Bicycles for Poor Students Project, which coordinates with schools from rural areas in Vietnam to donate bicycles to poor students.
