What is Rose Pageant?
Since 2000, VSA UCI has annually held the Rose Pageant during the Fall quarter. Ladies from Vietnamese Student Associations all over Southern California come together to celebrate all aspects of the Asian-American woman through dance, evening gown, questionnaires, and the Ao Dai segments. A fraction of the proceeds made from the event goes to a charity of our choice that gives back to the Vietnamese community. In addition, Rose Pageant holds performances from talents within the UCI campus and local community including Gio Nam Mua Lan (Southern Wind Lion Dance), Level V Origins Modern Dance, Traditional Dance, and VSAUCI Choir.
As part of UVSA's collective philanthropy project, this year's proceeds will be going towards the Messengers of Love (est. 2004), a non-profit organization that strives to provide a better quality of life for underprivileged and orphaned children of Vietnam. In addition, they also help to provide physical, mental, emotional, and educational support by providing services such as scholarship opportunities, educational assistance programs, workforce preparation, and home support.

This Year's Theme
“Ngoi Sao Tren Bau Troi”, or Stars in the Night Sky, celebrates the concept of individuality and self-empowerment. Like stars, each shines beautifully in their own unique way. Each contestant is stepping out of their comfort zone and reaching for more by participating in this night of culture and heritage to showcase their own definition and interpretation of Vietnamese American culture.
